Caribbean A region of the Americas consisting of the Caribbean Sea, the islands included in this sea, and the coasts that surround this sea are referred to as the Caribbean. This area rests on its own tectonic plate called the Caribbean Plate. It is surrounded by the North American, South American, Nazca, and Cocos Plates. Some of the island territories included in the Carribean include Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Caymen Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, U.S. Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Puerto Rico, Montserrat, Martinique, and Jamaica. Some of the continental countries with Caribbean coasts include United States, Costa Rica, Columbia, Honduras, Guyana, Guatamala, Mexico, and Surinam. Although The Bahamas are not located in the Caribbean Sea, they are sometimes states as being part of the Caribbean.
