Databases

A compilation or collection of logically related data created to supply information to an individual or group of people is called a Database. Databases consist of stored records in a systematic manner so that they can be filed and/or retrived in a quick and efficient manner. For example, a hospital may use a database in which they input data such as a patient's name or social security number in order to retrieve that patient's medical records. There are several models of databases, which include flat, hierarchical, network, relational, object, and dimensional model databases. Databases use indexing to increase speed. Databases can be replicated by concepts including master/slave replication, quorum replication, and multimaster replication.
